Put Down the Gun

Put Down the Gun

When fathers hit or speak abuse

And mothers say it’s no use

You grow up with an eye for retribution

But there’s no way of paying back

The hurt that came of a childhood past

Something’s wrong and you don’t know what to do

Put down the gun

It won’t help make you a man

Your daddy’s dreams don’t need defending

Put down the gun

Put down the gun

Give them that serve the chance to protect you

If you’re in need they’ll come and help you

Put down the gun

You might feel your country’s broken

And being white will make you no one

Don’t play the scene with lives you’ve stolen

Put down the gun

When fathers hit or speak abuse

And mothers say it’s no use

You grow up with an eye for retribution

But there’s no way of paying back

The hurt that came of a childhood past

Why not let somebody care for you

So when you want

To end that life you feel like hating

Just turn around you’ll find me waiting

Put down the gun

When fathers hit or speak abuse

And mothers say it’s no use

You grow up with an eye for retribution

But there’s no way of paying back

The hurt that came of a childhood past

Why not let somebody care for you

So when you want

To end that life you feel like hating

Just turn around you’ll find me waiting

Put down the gun

Just turn around you’ll find me waiting

Put down the gun
